What the Research Shows
For more than 20 years, dry salt aerosol administered in specially designed halochambers has been used to help treat symptoms related to upper and lower respiratory conditions. Clinical observations consistently demonstrate that patients with chronic respiratory and skin conditions experience meaningful improvement after a course of halotherapy sessions.
The mechanism is straightforward: when a halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical-grade salt into microscopic particles (1–5 microns), those particles are small enough to penetrate deep into the respiratory tract. Once inhaled, the salt absorbs excess moisture, reduces inflammation, loosens mucus, and creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and allergens.
Skin conditions benefit through a different pathway — direct contact with the salt-saturated air draws out moisture from bacteria on the skin's surface, reducing inflammation and supporting the skin's natural barrier function.
Physician Referrals
Many of our guests arrive on recommendation from pulmonologists, allergists, and pediatricians who are familiar with halotherapy research. While we are not a medical facility and halotherapy is not a replacement for prescribed treatment, it is increasingly recognized as a complementary approach for managing chronic respiratory and skin conditions.
Our Approach at The Salt Room® Oviedo
Our halogenerator disperses pharmaceutical-grade salt into a sealed room where guests relax for 45 minutes. The concentration and particle size are carefully calibrated for safe, therapeutic-level exposure — replicating the conditions studied in clinical halochamber research. All rooms are allergen-free, and we maintain strict hygiene protocols between sessions.

Medical Disclaimer
Halotherapy should never replace any medication prescribed by your doctor. Halotherapy should be avoided if you are running a fever, spitting up blood, or have any of the following: active tuberculosis, cardiac insufficiency, COPD in its third stage, bleed, alcohol or drug use, unstable hypertension, and acute stages of respiratory disease.
