What it actually is
Red light therapy, or photobiomodulation if you want the technical name, uses visible red and near-infrared light in the 630 to 850 nanometre range. Unlike UV, which damages DNA, these wavelengths are non-ionising: they do not burn and they do not cause cellular damage. What they do is reach the mitochondria in your cells and increase ATP production, which is the energy your tissue uses to repair itself.
The practical upshot is faster recovery, less pain and inflammation, and more collagen production in skin. Ours is a full-body panel rather than a handheld wand, and a session takes twenty minutes. There is no heat to speak of and nothing to endure. You stand there in red light.
What a session is like
Start to finish, so nothing about your first visit is a surprise.
-
Twenty minutes, skin exposed
Light has to reach skin to do anything, so wear as little as you are comfortable in over the areas you want treated.
-
No sunscreen or heavy moisturiser
Come with clean skin. Anything occlusive on the surface blocks the wavelengths you are paying for.
-
Eye protection is available
The light is not UV and will not damage your eyes, but it is bright. Most people prefer the goggles.
-
Nothing to feel
A faint warmth at most. If you are expecting sauna heat, this is not that.
Who it’s for
If you recognise yourself in one of these, this is probably the right service to book.
You are recovering from training, or from surgery
Increased circulation and ATP production are the mechanism; this is why it is a standard fixture in sports recovery.
You have joint or muscle pain
Particularly chronic, inflammatory pain rather than an acute injury.
You are working on your skin
Fine lines, tone and texture. Collagen production is slow, so this is a months-not-weeks proposition.
You want to stack it
Twenty minutes of red light after a sauna session or alongside leg compression is the most common way regulars use it.
Before you book
When to check with your doctor first
Red light is among the lower-risk therapies we offer, and there are still cases where you should ask your doctor before booking:
- You are taking a photosensitising medication — some antibiotics, retinoids, and acne and psychiatric medications increase light sensitivity
- You have a condition triggered by light exposure, such as lupus or porphyria
- You have an active skin cancer, or a lesion you have not had looked at
- You have had a recent steroid injection in the area you want treated
- You are pregnant — safe as far as anyone knows, but tell us and check with your physician
- You have epilepsy — bright light can be a trigger for some people
Red light therapy is a support, not a treatment for any diagnosed condition, and it does not replace anything your doctor has prescribed. Questions before your first session: (407) 542-7818.

What guests say
Questions about red light therapy
What does red light therapy actually do?
The wavelengths reach your cells’ mitochondria and increase ATP production, which is the energy tissue uses to repair itself. Downstream of that: better circulation, less inflammation, and more collagen in skin.
Is it the same as a tanning bed?
No, and the difference is the important part. Tanning beds emit UV, which damages DNA. Red and near-infrared light are non-ionising. You will not tan and you will not burn.
How often do I need to come?
Three to five times a week is the range that shows up in the research for most goals. Skin changes are the slowest to appear, so give that a couple of months before judging it.
How long is a session?
Twenty minutes in front of the full-body panel.
Can I do red light and the sauna on the same visit?
Yes, and many people do. Red light is $20 as an add-on to another booked session, and there is a combined unlimited membership at $179 a month.
Does it hurt, or get hot?
Neither. A faint warmth at most. The light is bright, so most people take the goggles.

Photobiomodulation, in plain terms: what light at 600–1000nm does once it reaches your cells, and why it relieves pain without a drug.

Salt Therapy for Inflammation
Inflammation is the body healing itself, loudly. Dry salt therapy turns the volume down on the airway inflammation behind most respiratory symptoms.
